ABSTRACT SUMMARY
A range of particulate systems have been proposed as potential adjuvants for enhancing the delivery and efficacy of sub-unit antigens, however comparative studies using the same antigen in the same model are limited. Within our studies we have compared polymer based microsphere systems, lipid based systems and non-ionic systems. Our results suggest that cationic liposomes are superior in terms of adjuvant action for a TB sub-unit antigen and that the combination of a cationic lipid and an immunostimulatory lipid gave the highest immune responses.
