Why change the delivery profile of salmon calcitoinin (sCT)? This presentation describes a novel comb-shaped PEG polymer construct and outlines the synthesis, characterization and bio-data achieved with sCT-polyPeg conjugates. PolyPEG technology allows the use of living radical polymerization in turn allowing greater control over the purity of the product. Polymers ‘built up’ from an initiator means lower poly-dispersity. PolyPEG
protects sCT from proteolysis by liver, serum, and intestinal enzymes and is bioactive
in vitro and
in vivo. There is a significant potential for cone shaped conjugates to be coupled with peptides in a site specific fashion.
