Invitation to Industry

Working in an industry that relies on delivery science and technology, you understand the importance of ensuring a strong next generation of leaders in research and development in this field. The health of your business and individuals depends on it.

To help in that goal, the CRS Foundation proudly announces, and asks for your support of, a new postdoctoral fellowship for 2012 that is named for Professor Sung Wan Kim, University of Utah.

CRS Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowships

Who will provide the breakthrough for targeted drug delivery to tumors?
Who will find self-regulated insulin delivery systems for clinical applications?
Who will develop a successful oral protein delivery system?

Knowing the Controlled Release Society’s focus on integrating broad and multiple disciplines with leading international scientists, we are fairly certain that today’s young delivery scientists will be actively involved in the research, as well as the actual solution to these questions. We invite you to become acquainted with the three outstanding young scientists who have received the CRS Foundation’s $30,000 fellowships since 2009. It is the CRS Foundation’s mission to support the educational training of these and future leaders.

Sung Wan Kim Postdoctoral Fellowship for 2012

Named for Professor Kim, the 2012 fellowship honors his pioneering career in drug delivery research as well as his many contributions as a CRS leader. You can read a recent article from Journal of Controlled Release in which Prof. Kim chronicles his career from biomaterials to gene delivery. It is a legendary and still-evolving career. Details regarding applications for the fellowship itself will be posted in December 2011.

How You Can Help

We are fundraising, building the endowment to fund the $30,000 fellowship that will be given in July of 2012. We ask for your help in

  • Communicating the Sung Wan Kim Postdoctoral Fellowship to deserving candidates who may be interested in applying.
  • Giving your individual support to fund this and future awards.
  • Doubling your impact by asking your company for a matching contribution.

Thank you if you have already contributed to the 2012 fellowship. If you would like to contribute at this time, we invite your donation at any level. If you have questions, please contact Development Director Deborah Woodard, dwoodard@scisoc.org, +1.651.994.3817.

With deep appreciation for your participation and support,
