Profile: Yu-Wei (Wayne) Lin

Yu-Wei (Wayne) Lin is a PhD Student at the University of Sydney, Advanced Drug Delivery Group. As no new antibiotics will be available for Gram-negative 'superbugs' for many years to come, it is crucial to optimize the clinical use of aerosolized polymyxins using pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) studies. The overarching aim of his PhD project is to investigate the PK and PD of the two clinically available polymyxins (i.e. colistin and polymyxin B), to guide the optimization of inhalational dosage regimens that maximize antimicrobial efficacy, while minimizing toxicity and development of resistance.  Yu-Wei’s research interests and future aspirations include antimicrobial research, population pharmacokinetics modelling, mechanism based pharmacodynamics modelling, and translational studies research. He is very passionate about research.
