Profile: Jaclyn Obermeyer

Jaclyn Obermeyer
is a PhD Candidate in the Shoichet Lab at the University of Toronto, holding an Alexander Graham Bell NSERC CGSD award. With her background in Chemical and Bioengineering, she is developing a minimally invasive strategy to deliver a therapeutic protein to the brain to treat stroke. This protein is known as an agent of plasticity and neuroprotection that may allow for greater functional recovery following ischemic injury. She is passionate about preventative medicine and improving the quality of life for individuals in our aging population. She would love to learn more about the gut-brain axis and how this influences aging, neurodegenerative conditions and recovery following traumatic brain injury. In her own time, she is a classically trained violinist, and also loves to fiddle.
