Profile: Manda Williams

Manda Williams
is a Senior fellow at the University of Washington, Department of Bioengineering. Her research background is in drug delivery, biodegradable polymers, microfluidics, engineering analysis, and computational fluid dynamics. Her research interests include breaking systems down to their key elements to understand, explain, model, and modify them. Her goal is to bring together knowledge from a variety of fields to achieve real world applications. She hopes to spend her career working on a range of interesting problems, and sharing my perspective to help others understand the world around them. Though her curiosity and thirst for knowledge tends to orient her to whatever research problem presents itself, it also motivated her to create an interdisciplinary undergraduate degree program at University of California, Santa Barbara, where she graduated with the first BS in Bioengineering. She has since enjoyed a rather unique viewpoint on the field and knowledge in general with far fewer boundaries between disciplines, and loves any opportunities for cross-pollination.
