Criteria:
The individual must be internationally recognized for outstanding scientific or technological contributions in the field of delivery of bioactives. Membership in the CRS is required.
Nomination Process:
Nominations must be in writing. Nominations may be submitted by a member of CRS.
Letters of nomination must include an abbreviated curriculum vitae and two letters of support for the nominee. These required documents must be sent to Linda Schmitt no later than January 31, 2010.
Selection Process:
The Founders Award Committee will make the selection of the awardee.
Award:
The awardee will receive:
- Special Award
- Complimentary Annual Meeting and Exposition Registration
- Complimentary ticket to the closing banquet
- $5000 Cash Award
- Award Winner to Give a Presentation at the 37th CRS Annual Meeting & Exposition
Notification:
Awardee will be notified no later than April 15, 2010.
CRS - Founders' Award 2009 Winner
Alexander (Sandy) Florence, Alexander Florence graduated with a B.S. (pharmacy) degree in 1962 and Ph.D. degree in 1965 from Glasgow University. He holds a D.S. degree from the University of Strathclyde, where he was appointed in 1966, becoming professor of pharmaceutics in 1975. In 1989 he became dean to the London School of Pharmacy, retiring in 2006. His interests include nonionic surfactants, niosomes, dendrimer and nanoparticle biodistribution, and education. He is editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Pharmaceutics and is a former president of CRS (2002–2003).
