About Focus Groups

Have you ever wanted to listen to a talk on a particular topic or by a scientist you admire? Have you ever wanted to sit down and have a chat about the latest scientific discoveries? Now you can meet with like-minded people, discuss your science, and showcase it to CRS members. How? Via the Focus Group!

In 2008, the first three Focus Groups were born: Nanomedicines, Tablet Manufacture, and Oral Drug Delivery. The Nanomedicines and Tablet Manufacture Focus Groups successfully held their first scientific discussion sessions in Copenhagen last summer, and the Oral Delivery Focus Group ran a successful satellite meeting in Vienna last spring. These three Focus Groups have been so successful we want more. Additional Focus Groups can only lead to a more vibrant and interactive society.

To join an existing Focus Group, all you have to do is attend their meeting at the CRS annual meeting in Portland, OR, and contribute ideas to the group’s programmes. It really is that simple—no cumbersome committee structure or limitless meetings, just a simple get-together to discuss science. CRS Focus Groups provide forums for scientific discussion and showcase their science by contributing to the CRS annual meeting, producing webinars, writing articles for the CRS Newsletter, and organising satellite meetings.

If you would like to learn about topics that interest you, this is a wonderful time to be a member of the CRS, as you are in control of the science we showcase. To learn more about Focus Groups visit the Focus Group website at http://www.controlledreleasesociety.org/main/focusgroups/default.cfm.

We hope that you like this new concept and support it actively.

Think, “Which Focus Group?”
