CRS 37th Annual Meeting & Exposition Educational Workshop Application Process/ Chair Responsibilities and Goals

Thank you for your interest in coordinating an Educational Workshop at the 2010 Annual Meeting & Exposition. The deadline for submitting an application has passed.
PROCESS
Educational workshop applications will be reviewed by the Workshop Review Committee, Scientific Secretary, and the Board of Directors. Educational workshops must be of high educational value for attendees and financially sound for CRS. In order to be considered, completed applications must be received by October 16, 2009. Applicants will be notified of application status on or before November 20, 2009. All accepted educational workshop applications will be subject to review throughout the entire 2010 Annual Meeting & Exposition planning process. At any time during this process, the Scientific Secretary, Treasurer, and Board of Directors may cancel a 2010 educational workshop.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND GOALS
- Chairs must select topics relevant to the controlled release and delivery community to be presented by knowledgeable speakers
- Chairs must inform speakers that the speakers will be required to submit a PowerPoint presentation approximately two months before the educational workshop is held
- Chairs must inform speakers that CRS headquarters will produce an educational workshop notebook, which includes all of the presentations and will be distributed to all educational workshop attendees and fellow speakers
- Chairs will remind speakers of submission deadlines and assist CRS headquarters by enforcing the material submission deadlines
- Chairs must be available to approve speakers’ presentations
- Chairs must also be an educational workshop presenter
- Workshops must attract a minimum of 50 paid attendees
- Chairs must solicit industrial sponsorships of $1500 or more from each sponsoring company and include CRS headquarters in the process
- Chairs must work with CRS headquarters in promoting the educational workshop on the website, in printed pieces, and in email communications
SCHEDULING
- Educational workshops are held one day prior to the Annual Meeting and Exposition
- The maximum time allotted for a half-day educational workshop is four hours
- The maximum time allotted for a one-day educational workshop is eight hours
- Chairs must secure speakers who are able to present more than once
- Each presentation should be 45-60 minutes and include a 15 minute question and answer session
FINANCIAL GUIDELINES
- A budget not to exceed $8000 for an 8-hour/1-day educational workshop, and $4000 for a 4-hour/half-day educational workshop
- Speaker compensation includes a complimentary registration to the educational workshop and a complimentary registration to the annual meeting and exposition
- Speaker compensation may include a travel subsidy
- Chairs must submit speaker travel subsidy amounts for approval to the CRS Scientific Secretary and Treasurer
Speakers risk not receiving their approved travel subsidy and complimentary registrations if all of their required educational workshop materials are not submitted to CRS headquarters by the established deadlines.
