An Update From the CRS Korea Chapter + Introductions to the Board
In March of this year, the foundation of a CRS chapter in Korea was approved at the CRS board meeting. CRS Korea Chapter launched with dozens of active members from academia and industry, including both established senior scientists and young scientists.
The board members of CRS Korea Chapter consist of the president, Dr. Oh-Seung Kwon; the vice president, Prof. Yu-Kyoung Oh; the general secretary, Prof. Cheong-Weon Cho; and the treasurer, Prof. Hwa Jeong Lee. CRS Korea Local Chapter works in close cooperation with the Korean Society of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technology (KSPST).
Immediately after approval was given at the CRS board meeting, CRS Korea Chapter was busy creating a Twitter account and organizing a conference. The Twitter handle (@KoreaCRS) has followers from all over the world, connecting Korean CRS members with the global CRS community. The logo of the CRS Korea Chapter was designed by a young scientist, Inhwan Noh at Gyeongsang National University (Republic of Korea).
April is designated “Science Month” by the Korean government, making it a special month for scientists in Korea. It is full of conferences and science award ceremonies.
In April of this year, as part of Science Month, CRS Korea Chapter co-hosted a conference with KSPST. Because of Covid-19, the meeting was held in a virtual space. The conference promoted CRS Korea Chapter to the larger domestic community of pharmaceutical scientists.
CRS Korea Chapter members are enthusiastic about networking with the international local chapters and community of the CRS. More importantly, CRS Korea Chapter aims to promote participation in CRS activities and networking with the global CRS community. As part of these efforts, the president Dr. Kwon attended to the CRS International Local Chapter meeting held on May 20th.
Currently, CRS Korea Chapter is constructing a website, which will be announced via Twitter as soon as it is activated.
