Summary

Planar SU-8/PEGDMA microdevices were constructed using photolithography and coated with Chitosan to facilitate delivery of the payload to an in vitro model of the retina. Chitosan was biotinylated and attached to the microdevice by leveraging the wellstudied biotin-avidin affinity. The in vitro model of the retina was constructed by culturing ARPE-19 cells to confluence on laminin coated transwell plates. Thus providing an environment to investigate the influence of geometry and surface coating on paracellular drug delivery to retinal tissue.
