Summary

Many different types of nanomedicines have been designed and evaluated for drug targeting to tumors. Prototypic examples of targeted nanomedicine formulations are liposomes adn other types of nanoparticles, polymers, micelles, and antibodies. Examples of strategies are passive drug targeting, active drug targeting to cancer cells, active drug targeting to endothelial cells and triggered drug delivery. Implications of our recent findings regarding these targeting strategies for the development of targeted nanomedicines will be discussed.
