Summary
The delivery of drugs into and through the skin either for dermatological therapy, the treatment of local, subcutaneous inflammation, or to alleviate systemic disease, will always represent a major challenge. Despite significant progress in understanding skin barrier function, and the development of novel technologies for transdermal applications, there remain several research questions related to topical bioavailability that need to be addressed.
