Summary
Nanoscale amphiphilic macromolecules (AMs) of varying hydrophobicity were synthesized and evaluated for the inhibition of oxLDL uptake in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and endothelial cells (ECs). Preliminary studies involving two (T12P5) and four (M12P5) aliphatic chains suggest that increased hydrophobicity results in increased oxLDL inhibition with M12P5 inhibiting 90% and 99% oxLDL uptake in PBMCs and ECs, respectively, compared to the 18% and 82% inhibition of T12P5.
