Maria Vivero-Lopez is a Postdoctoral researcher in the I+D Farma group at the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain) under the supervision of Professors Carmen Alvarez-Lorenzo and Angel Concheiro. She obtained her Ph.D. in Pharmacy at the same University in February 2022 with a Xunta de Galicia predoctoral grant and the qualification of summa cum laude. Her research is focused on the development of new nanostructured systems for ocular drug delivery, mainly drug-loaded contact lenses, with the aim of developing new drug-device combination products with antibiofilm properties that allow the treatment of different ocular diseases while correcting refractive errors. She is also a member of the CRS Spanish-Portuguese Local Chapter YSC and of the Sociedad Española de Farmacia Industrial y Galénica (SEFIG). Moreover, she has recently been distinguished with the Julián Francisco Suárez Freire award (VIII edition) for young researchers of the Royal Academy of Pharmacy of Galicia. Besides lab work, Maria enjoys meeting new people, visiting new places, listening to live music, and making plans with her family and friends.
