Observations/Thoughts/Trends/Musings
The online patent database I use to draft these summaries has had a long-overdue update. The interface seems to be much more user-friendly for advanced searches and I seem to be getting more hits using the same search parameters I used previously. While I only search the US-PAT database for patents that have been issued, there are other databases available for searching beyond issued patents (patents submitted but not yet issued for example). If you haven’t ever used the search function on the site referenced at the beginning of this document, I recommend it for learning the “hot” areas of research and development or just general knowledge.

Before the next quarterly patent review is released, we will have had our annual meeting in Las Vegas. I hope you will come by our booth in the expo hall (Southwest Research Institute)!
