Ph.D. Candidate
Agharkar Research Institute, Pune, India
Niladri Haldar is a Ph.D. candidate in the Nanobioscience Group at the Agharkar Research Institute, Pune, India, under the supervision of Dr. Virendra Gajbhiye. His doctoral research focuses on engineering next-generation targeted nanomedicine platforms for cancer therapy, with a strong emphasis on nucleic acid delivery and reprogramming the tumor microenvironment to enhance therapeutic response. His work centers on developing lipid-based nanocarriers to enhance intracellular delivery of CRISPR-Cas9 systems to triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) cells, alongside biodegradable silica nanoparticle platforms for siRNA-mediated oncogene silencing, aiming to overcome key biological and translational barriers in gene modulation therapies.
He has actively disseminated his work at national and international scientific forums and received the Best Poster Award at the Indian Association for Cancer Research Annual Meeting (2025) and the Indian Association of Biomedical Scientists Annual Conference (2025). In 2026, he was selected as a member of the Controlled Release Society Young Scientists Committee (CRS YSC), where he contributes to initiatives that support early-career researchers and foster global collaboration in drug delivery and nanomedicine
