Cláudia Martins is a PhD student at Institute for Research and Innovation in Health (i3S) of University of Porto (PT) in a partnership with the University of Nottingham (UK), working under the supervision of Dr Bruno Sarmento. She has a Master in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Porto (PT) since 2017. Some of her current areas of interest include cancer nanomedicine and targeted drug delivery. Cláudia has developed extensive work in these areas since 2015, which resulted in a Marie Curie fellowship and a grant scheme funded by the UK Research Council, among others. During her ongoing PhD, Cláudia has recently been a Visiting Researcher in both academia (Queen's University Belfast, UK) and industrial (MyBiotech GmbH, DE) institutions. She is also a member of the CRS Spanish-Portuguese Local Chapter YSC, Advisory Committee of the PhD in Biomedical Sciences of University of Porto as Student’s Representative and co-coordinates the Pint of Science international festival in Portugal. Cláudia is honored to join the CRS YSC and have the possibility to work together with the future leaders of the controlled release science field. Outside the lab, you may find Cláudia getting inspired by the ocean-side landscape or enjoying a classical ballet.
