Lara Gaby Freidus is currently a PhD student in the Wits Advanced Drug Delivery Platform (WADDP) research group at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg South Africa. Her background is in molecular and cell biology, particularly in biochemistry. Her current research is in the field of cancer nanomedicine and combines organic chemistry, nanotechnology, cell biology and drug delivery. The aim of her research is to develop a theranostic nanosystem to simultaneously target and treat cancer. Lara is passionate about science and looks forward to a future career in research. In her own time, Lara loves to travel, socialize with friends and family and has interests in music and photography.
