During my doctoral training, I was a visiting researcher at Homburg University (Germany, 2013). My PhD was focused on local drug delivery systems for bone regeneration. Then, I moved to the USA where I worked three years as a postdoctoral fellow under the supervision of Prof Mariah Hahn at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI, USA) dedicated to the development of functional biomaterials for tissue engineering. My current research at University of La Laguna is focused on the development of smart biomaterials to modulate tissue homeostasis and restore a healthy tissue environment. Besides lab work I love hiking and walking, enjoying the landscape of Tenerife.
