Summary

There is interest in the characterisation of the structure and function of advanced delivery systems. In this paper, we shall explore the use of some of the modern analytical techniques that may be used to study the structure and function of controlled release systems and tissue engineering constructs. In particular, the role of imaging techniques will be discussed alongside complementary spectroscopy and biological analysis methods to gain a greater insight into the function of novel delivery systems and in the search for new generation of biomaterials.
