Profile: Heloísa Athaydes

Heloísa Athaydes (she/her) is a fourth-year doctoral student in Human Physiology and Pharmacology at Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG, Brazil). She is a graduate student researcher at Nanostructured Systems Biophysics Laboratory (LABNANO) studying under supervision of Professor Pedro Guimarães. Her research explores the potential to hybrid nanoparticles to delivery siRNA to the lungs. She holds a Master of Pharmaceutical Sciences (2018) in nanotechnology and a bachelor’s in pharmacy (2015) with an emphasis on Medicines and Cosmetics Industry from the UFMG. Prior to pursuing her Ph.D., she worked as a clinical pharmacist at the Expanded Center for Family Health and Primary Care in Brazil implementing pharmaceutical services and researching social determinants of health outcomes. She also has experience working as a pharmacist in a drugstore and in a pharmaceutical industry specializing in quality assurance. Heloísa is a new member of CRS Brazilian Local Chapter young scientist and CRS young scientist committee. In her free time, Heloísa enjoys meeting friends, traveling, running, and tending to houseplants.
