Nick Lamson is a Ph.D. candidate in Chemical Engineering. He researches in the lab of Prof. Kathryn Whitehead at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA (USA) and is partially supported by an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship. His current work focuses on manipulating the movement of macromolecules through the intestinal epithelium, with an emphasis on enhancing absorption of protein drugs for oral drug delivery. He is additionally interested in better understanding how the growing ranks of nanocarriers react with complex biological systems. Nick plans to follow a career path in academia, combining research enthusiasm with a passion for teaching and mentoring the future bright minds of our field. Outside of the lab, he enjoys hiking, kayaking, cooking, and exploring new cities.
