Wonseok Choi

wcWonseok Choi is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Yonsei University (South Korea) and a joint program trainee in the Bionics Research Center at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST, South Korea). His research interest is mainly in treating ischemic cerebral stroke that can occur by a blood clot (i.e., thrombus)-mediated blockage of a blood vessel. He seeks and utilizes some exogenous external stimuli (e.g., acoustic and magnetic forces) to increase the therapeutic potential of either thrombolytic agents or drug delivery carriers in the ischemic core lesion. Moreover, through spanning the acoustic knowledge trained from the KIST, he also designs a new strategy using high-intensity focused ultrasound on treating subcutaneous cancer in mice through systemic immune responses. He wants to study and combine various scientific knowledge from worldwide and thus optimally expects to apply his knowledge to the practical clinical field to change the world. He wants to be a tenure-track professor. He enjoys watching YouTube clips, singing, and watching movies in his free time.
